MIST AND RAIN

Been a while since I painted a background. Almost got a mentorship with Mike Yamada (concept artist for Kung Fu Panda 2 and How to Train your Dragon). I was in the top ten, but didn't get it. Oh well, gotta push on! If any talented background artist would like to grace me with some tips, I'm all ears!

I got picked up by the ever so wonderful Robot Hand production company to do a bit of creature animation for them. I won't disclose much more, but the final designs are done, rough animation is well underway, and I finished sculpting the maquette of his head!

I apologize for the poor picture quality, I only have web cam and poor lighting at the moment. 

OGRE AND THE MERMAID

My former animation teacher, Chris Magee, is finally making his long awaited short: the Ogre and the Mermaid (or is it the Mermaid and the Ogre?) In any case, I'm excited to be part of it! I had a freak bout of inspiration today, and rather than work on what I'm supposed to be working on, I decided to jump the gun and attempt to do a background in his style. For some reason I decided I wanted it to move too :p

SEAGULL PENCIL TEST II

Finished another shot of the seagull! I have a kickass assistant working with us this time, so I am able to pass shots along to him to finish inbetweening and to color. In the blank space on the seagull here, please imagine a musical score (it was shot in live action and we'll combine them in post)
